Commencement

Getting ready for the ceremony me, Matt and Beth (professors of Latin/Greek and German)
Mareike, me and Beth (the German department)
Irene and a water fountain. We don't really have them, so I thought I should take a picture. By the way, I wish we had them! Without the chlorine, of course ; )
Quite a big crowd, waiting patiently to enter the arch. At the beginning of their first year, they walk through the arch from the other side. Since this side of the arch is where all the academic buildings are, the parade is symbolic for walking towards academia. Now they are leaving it. Maybe not for too long.
The diplomas are waiting!
Lead by the bagpipers, teachers and students are on their way to the seats.
Students get their diplomas and shake a couple of hands.
Done. I was very disappointed because they didn't throw their hats! But it's in the movies! Well, at least there was some tassle moving going on. But again, it's not like in the movies. There everybody moves their tassel on the stage, here they did it as a group. Kind of nice, actually.
Right after the ceremony, I left Wooster to spend my last day in the U.S. in Cleveland at Irene's house.
